For the full-fledged operation of BALLOONAIR, a connection to a Wi-Fi network with Internet access is required. BALLOONAIR uses the Internet to send air quality information to the Balloon IoT Platform cloud server and then transfers the data back to your smartphone via the BalloonAir app. When BALLOONAIR is disconnected from the Internet, its application status will change to Offline, and the current air quality data will no longer be available. BALLOONAIR will continue to work without access to the Internet, in this case, the CO2 level can only be assessed visually by the color of the LED indicator. The data will not be recorded nor archived. Please note that the device settings will be saved.
Required Wi-Fi Specifications
BALLOONAIR is only compatible with 2.4GHz b/g/n Wi-Fi networks. If your Wi-Fi router is dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz), we recommend assigning a separate SSID to each band. We also recommend disabling the load balancing feature for dual band routers as this can sometimes move BALLOONAIR into the 5 GHz network, causing an outage.
To check the router settings, open a web browser and go to the administrator interface of the router.
